Djanogly Learning Trust appoints new Chief Executive Officer

A new Chief Executive Officer has been appointed at Djanogly Learning Trust.

Mark Mallender has more than 25 years’ experience of working in education.

During that time, his roles have included being a primary school Headteacher, a Senior School Improvement Officer and Chief Executive Officer of an academy trust.

Mark starts in post at Djanogly Learning Trust, based in New Basford, Nottingham, on 1st September 2023.

Djanogly Learning Trust is a growing multi academy trust that sponsors nine schools in the East Midlands.

Altogether, the Trust has more than 3,000 pupils, 200 teaching staff and 270 support staff. Over 35 different languages are spoken by pupils at the academies across the Trust.

Mark said: “It is an honour to be appointed to lead Djanogly Learning Trust, which is well respected for its commitment to raising aspirations, developing well-rounded, resilient pupils and giving them the very best of foundations to succeed in life.”

He added: “I look forward to building on the excellent work that has already been achieved.”

The current Chief Executive Officer Liz Anderson is retiring in August 2023 after 18 years based at the Trust.

Tim Slade, Chair of Djanogly Learning Trust’s Board of Trustees, said: “Mark brings a wealth of experience and we are delighted to welcome him to our thriving and diverse family of schools.

“We would like to thank Liz for her outstanding contribution to Djanogly Learning Trust including being Chief Executive Officer for the last five years. We wish her all the very best.”
