Year 11 Exam Results 2026

Students and staff across all four Secondary Schools within our Trust are celebrating today as students received their examination results.

These GCSE results reflect the hard work, determination and resilience shown by students throughout their secondary education, supported by the dedication of teachers, support staff and families. As students celebrate their achievements, many are now preparing to take the next step in their educational journey, whether progressing to sixth form, college, apprenticeships or other exciting opportunities.

We are incredibly proud of the achievements of all our students and would like to congratulate them on their success.

Chellaston Academy, Derby

Chellaston Academy’s Class of 2026 are celebrating after receiving their GCSE results.

This summer's results highlights include:

  • Three quarters of all students achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and maths.
  • Half of all students achieved a grade 5 or above in both English and maths.
  • A quarter of all students achieved a grade 7 or above in both English and maths.
  • Half of all students achieved at least one grade 7 or above.

Damian Leese, Headteacher, Chellaston Academy, said: “I am absolutely delighted for our students. We have high academic standards and these fantastic results reflect our students’ resilience, hard work and determination to reach their potential.

“It is particularly pleasing to see improvements in our overall headline measures, demonstrating the strength of teaching and learning across the academy and dedication of our staff and students.

“I would like to congratulate all our students on their achievements and thank our staff, families and wider school community for their continued support.”

Chellaston Academy, based on Swarkestone Road, Chellaston, Derby, is Ofsted graded ‘good’ and part of Tapestry Learning Partnership.

This year's highest-performing students include:

  • Isabella Patterson, Isaac Bell and Shutaro Funai, who each achieved an outstanding nine grade 9s.
  • Edward Jones, who achieved an exceptional eight grade 9s.
  • Riley McTurk, who achieved seven grade 9s and one grade 8.
  • Isla Greaves Huckerby, who achieved six grade 9s, one grade 8 and two distinction stars.
  • Rebecca Steadman, who achieved five grade 9s and three grade 8s.
  • Amelia Hadley, who achieved five grade 9s and three grade 8s.
  • Selina Cao, who achieved five grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 7.
  • Bhavjot Dhamrait, who achieved five grade 9s, three grade 8s and two grade 7s.
  • Belle Hilton, who achieved four grade 9s and four grade 8s.

Special mention also goes to Selina Cao and Riley McTurk for their outstanding nationally recognised achievements.

Selina was recognised by Cambridge OCR as one of the top-performing students nationally in GCSE Art and Design: Fine Art.

Riley McTurk was recognised as one of the top performing students nationally in the Cambridge National in Engineering Manufacture qualification.

The following students deserve special praise for their resilience and determination in overcoming challenges to achieve an outstanding set of results:

A significant number of students are going onto Chellaston Academy Sixth Form, which offers a wide range of traditional A Level subjects as well as vocational qualifications.

City of Derby Academy, Derby

City of Derby Academy students prepare for the next chapter after GCSE results

Students at City of Derby Academy are preparing to move onto the next chapter of their education after receiving their GCSE results.

This summer’s grades include positive outcomes for English language, maintaining the achievement and success of previous years and enabling students to go onto their next steps.

Other subject highlights include notable performances in childcare, construction, and health and social care, as well as art, photography and religious studies.

Students at the school, based on Farmhouse Road, Sinfin, are progressing to a range of destinations including A Levels and vocational training.

City of Derby Academy joined Tapestry Learning Partnership in January 2026. The Trust runs successful primary, junior and secondary schools in the East Midlands.

Claire Backhouse, Headteacher, City of Derby Academy, who started in post in May 2026, said: “We are really proud of the hard work of all of our students this year. There have been a significant number achieving grade 9s and 8s in English language and maths, which is a testament to the hard work and resilience of our wonderful students here at CoDA.

“We are committed to improving the life chances of all our students and will continue the relentless pursuit of improvement each year. We wish our 2026 cohort every success with their next steps.”

Jahdey Efionayi, 16, who achieved two grade 9s, five grade 8s and one grade 6, said: “I feel very happy, I will be celebrating later.” Jahdey will be going to Derby Moor Sixth Form to study English literature, psychology and history and hopes to pursue a career in law.

Ramandeep Tambar, 16, who achieved one grade 9, three grade 8s, two grade 7s and two grade 6s, said: “I feel very good, happy and ready to celebrate.” Ramandeep will be going to Derby Moor Sixth Form to study business, psychology and chemistry.

Zaine Clarke is the first person at the school to get a distinction star in childcare. Zaine said ‘I’m so happy, I’ve never got a star before. Childcare is my favourite subject. I did well on my coursework, so I knew I could get a good grade if I really tried on my exam.”

Zaine plans to go to Burton Sixth Form. After his result in childcare, Zaine is considering studying childcare as he would love to pursue a career in it.

Djanogly City Academy, Nottingham

Djanogly City Academy students celebrate GCSE results success

Djanogly City Academy students are once again celebrating some strong GCSE exam results and looking forward to their next steps.

This summer’s GCSE results include continued strong performances in English and maths, with particularly positive outcomes in English Language.

Many subject areas have also built on solid prior results with notable performances in computer science, physical education and languages.

Andy Smith, Principal, Djanogly City Academy, said: “We are absolutely delighted for our students. They have all worked so hard for their results.

“Our staff are fully committed to raising aspirations and do extraordinary things to ensure that students achieve at the highest of levels. I could not be prouder of our students and their teachers.”

He added: “It is also good to see many of our students wanting to stay on at Djanogly City Academy Sixth Form, which is an Ofsted ‘outstanding’ provider.”

Djanogly City Academy, which is Ofsted graded ‘good’ and has two sites based at Gregory Boulevard and Sherwood Rise, Nottingham, is part of Tapestry Learning Partnership.

Laiba Iftikhar, 16, who achieved ten GCSEs including two grade 9s, four grade 8s and four grade 7s, said: “I feel really proud of what I have achieved and am so happy." Laiba is going onto sixth form to study four A Levels in maths, further maths, physics and history.

Shaf Hussain, 16, who achieved nine GCSEs from grades 5 to 9, said: "I feel very proud of myself and what I have achieved." Shaf is going to study three A Levels in biology, chemistry and history at Djanogly City Academy Sixth Form.

Shiloe Caleb Anderson, 16, who achieved nine GCSEs including three grade 8s, five grade 7s and one grade 6, said: "I didn’t expect the results, I feel great." Shiloe is going onto college to study music technology, biology and psychology.

Mayar Abdullah, 16, who achieved ten GCSEs from grades 5 to 9, said: "I am really happy, I can't believe my results." Mayar is staying on at Djanogly City Academy Sixth Form to study four A levels in chemistry, biology, sociology, psychology.

A significant number of students are progressing to Djanogly City Academy Sixth Form, Sherwood Rise, which is Ofsted ‘outstanding’ and offers 27 A Level subjects.

QEGS, Ashbourne

Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School is celebrating a positive set of GCSE results.

This year’s results show improved attendance and strong achievement for students who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

This summer, 194 students sat their GCSE examinations. The key highlights include:

  • More than 68% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and maths.
  • 44% of students achieved a grade 5 in both English and maths.
  • 37% of students achieved a grade 7 or above.
  • The average grade achieved by students with attendance above 95% was 1.5 grades higher than for students whose attendance was below 90%.
  • The proportion of SEND students achieving a grade 5 or above in English and maths improved compared with last year.
  • The proportion of students with English as an additional language achieving grade 4 or above in English and maths also improved compared with last year.

Scott Garrity, Headteacher, Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, said: “We are incredibly proud of our students. Behind every result is a story of hard work, determination and personal growth.

“What is particularly encouraging is seeing the impact of the cultural changes we have worked hard to embed. Attendance has improved significantly. Expectations are high and there is a growing sense of ambition and belief in what our young people can achieve.

“The link between attendance and outcomes could not be clearer. Students attending more than 95% of the time achieved, on average, 1.5 grades higher than those below 90%. Every day in school really does count.

“I am especially proud of the improvement in outcomes for our SEND students, building on the positive progress we also saw at A Level. We want every student to know that they belong here, that we believe in them and that they can succeed.

“Thank you to our students, families and staff for everything they have contributed. Most importantly, to our students – be proud of what you have achieved, we certainly are.”

Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, is Ofsted graded ‘good’ and part of Tapestry Learning Partnership.

Among the standout achievements this year are Sophie Sammut who achieved six grade 9s, Oscar Caton who achieved four grade 9s and Pippa Smith who achieved three grade 9s.

Students who made the best progress include Sophie Tatham, Imogen Hamilton, Oscar Caton, Alexander Dyson and Lexie Patterson.

Emily Phillips, 16, who achieved eight GCSEs including a grade 9, a grade 7, five grade 6s and a grade 5, said: “I passed everything and feel happy!” Emily is going onto the sixth form to study three A levels and aspires to run her own business in future.

Archie Hurst, 16, who achieved 10 GCSEs at mostly grade 4 grades, is going onto college to study a vocational qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair. Archie said: “I feel great.”

A significant number of students are going onto the sixth form at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, which offers traditional A Level subjects and vocational qualifications.
