QEGS students celebrate high pass rate and top grades!

Students at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School are celebrating a high pass rate after receiving their A Level and vocational results which include some top grades.

This year’s results include:

• 99% pass rate in all A Level courses.
• 58% of all entries were graded A*- B, which is an exceptional achievement.
• The average grade for A Level students is a B.
• 100% pass rate in all BTEC vocational courses.
• The average grade that BTEC vocational students achieved is a distinction*.

Scott Garrity, Headteacher, Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, said: “Our sixth form leavers have achieved some fantastic results. On behalf of all the staff, I would like to congratulate them on their hard-earned success.

“We are very proud of them and wish them every success as they prepare to progress to the next stage at university or in further education and training.”

This year’s results also show disadvantaged students and those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) making greater progress than their peers.

“Upholding the school’s commitment to inclusive provision, supporting disadvantaged students and those with SEND remains one of our key priorities,” added Scott Garrity.

“This demonstrates the impact of our targeted support and our continued focus on ensuring that all students, regardless of their starting point, are able to achieve positive outcomes.”

Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, is Ofsted graded ‘good’ and part of Tapestry Learning Partnership. The school offers a wide range of A Level subjects and some vocational qualifications.

Students have received offers from leading universities including Exeter, Liverpool, Loughborough, Durham and Warwick. They are going on to study a wide range of courses from classical civilisation and politics to mathematics and aerospace engineering.

Individual results for A Levels include Charlotte Hoon who achieved 4 A*’s and Freya Harper who achieved triple distinction stars in her BTEC Sport and Exercise Science and an A* in psychology.

Charlotte Hoon, 18, who achieved her four A* grades Levels in chemistry, further maths, maths and physics, is going onto study mathematics at the University of Warwick.

Charlotte said: “I feel very happy and relieved that all my hard work has paid off. I have enjoyed the supportive sixth form environment and amazing teachers who I would like to thank.”

Mollie Davies achieved 3 A*’s alongside an A* in her EPQ, Lottie Cowley achieved 3 A*’s and Noah Dring-Myatt also achieved 3 A* grades.

Sam Plant and Max Pountain were awarded triple distinction stars in BTEC Business and Joe Young achieved triple distinction stars in his BTEC in Sport and Exercise Science.

Students who have exceeded their target grades and made the most progress from their GCSE’s include Bella Brayne, Lucy Critchlow, Zoe Duckworth, Joules Gill, Emily Martin, Freddie Beale, Josh Harrison, Archie Salt, Mana Shotton and Ezara Yeomans.

Zoe Duckworth, 18, who achieved distinction*, distinction, distinction in a BTEC Business Diploma, is going onto Nottingham Trent University to study fashion, marketing and branding.

Zoe said: “The BTEC course involves a lot of practical work which I enjoyed and the teachers are great. QEGS sixth form is an amazing school to go to.”

Chellaston Academy students achieve strong academic and vocational results

Chellaston Academy students are celebrating after receiving their academic and vocational results.

The majority of students achieved the grades to progress to university, apprenticeships and further education and training.

This year’s results highlights include:

• 27% of grades achieved are A* to A
• 58% of grades achieved are A* to B
• The average grade achieved across all A Level subjects is a grade B
• The average grade across all vocational subjects is a distinction

Chellaston Academy, based on Swarkestone Road, Chellaston, Derby, is Ofsted graded ‘good’ and part of Tapestry Learning Partnership.

The school has a large sixth form and offers a wide range of A Level subjects. Some young people have also completed BTEC vocational diplomas and Cambridge Technical qualifications.

Students receiving their results described themselves as feeling "happy" “delighted,” “proud” and “chuffed” as they celebrated their achievements. Many also reflected on their time in the sixth form, highlighting the “excellent support from teachers”, the wide range of “in-school opportunities and subjects to choose from”, the “fantastic atmosphere and environment” and the “great teaching” as key factors in their success.

This year's students are progressing to an impressive range of destinations, embarking on courses including chemistry, zoology, mathematics, physics, biology, natural sciences, law, psychology, politics and midwifery, alongside many other subjects at universities and colleges across the country.

Others have secured prestigious apprenticeship opportunities, demonstrating the breadth of pathways available to Chellaston Academy students.

This year’s top performing students include:

• Miyuki Kitahara, who achieved A*A*A* and will read law at the University of Oxford.
• Alicia Banton, who achieved A*A*A* and is progressing to study optometry
• Samantha Winfield, who achieved AAA and will study psychology at Loughborough University.
• Theo McKeown, who achieved an outstanding AAAA* and will go on to study at the University of Bath.
• Cal Reavill, who achieved AA*A* and has secured a prestigious software engineering apprenticeship with BAE Systems
• Ella Boardman who has secured outstanding results of A, A* A*

Students also secured a range of high-quality apprenticeship opportunities, including:

• Francesca O'Toole, who has secured a food technical apprenticeship with Samworth Brothers.
• Janbaz Singh, who has secured a financial auditing apprenticeship with KPMG

The school is also proud of Lucas Osborne who has shown exceptional resilience throughout their studies, achieving an excellent set of results and securing exciting opportunities for their next steps.

Djanogly City Academy Sixth Form students celebrate A Level results success

Djanogly City Academy Sixth Form students are looking forward to their next steps at university or further education and training after achieving positive A Level grades.

This year’s results for Djanogly City Academy Sixth Form students include some notable successes. The proportion of top grades achieved has been maintained this year with an upward trend in many subjects.

Andy Smith, Principal, Djanogly City Academy, said: “We set high expectations, inspire ambition and create a transformative environment where our students are empowered to thrive and achieve. This year’s results reflect the commitment and determination of our students and staff.”

Djanogly City Academy Sixth Form, which is Ofsted graded ‘outstanding’, is part of Tapestry Learning Partnership. Based on Sherwood Rise, the sixth form offers 27 A Level subjects.

Students have received offers from universities including the University of Durham, University of Warwick and University of Nottingham.

Elliot Beal, aged 18, has earned top grades in four A Levels - further mathematics, physics, mathematics and computer science.

Elliot, who has achieved three A* grades in further mathematics, physics and mathematics and an A grade in computer science, said: “I feel ecstatic.”

Elliot also said that he has benefited from the quiet library spaces and small study focus groups that have supported his learning.

Elliot is moving onto the University of Warwick to study mathematics with a long-term ambition to work in mathematical science research.

Rohail Khan, aged 18, has also achieved a top set of grades in his A Level subjects. Rohail has secured an A* in economics and grade As in biology and chemistry.

Rohail said: “I feel great. I would like to say thanks to all the teachers at Djanogly City Academy Sixth Form who helped.”

Rohail is going onto study dentistry at the University of Dundee and aims to progress to a career in the dental profession in future.

Students also develop their communication and employability skills through cultural trips, guest speakers, masterclasses and societies.
